SOTOMAYOR CONFIRMED
We'll begin with yesterday's big news out of Washington: the Senate Confirmed Sonia Sotomayor as the 111th Justice of the Supreme Court by a vote of 68 to 31. Given her earlier positions relative to the Second Amendment, her elevation to the Federal high court does not bode well for our right to keep and bear arms. Georgia's Senators, Chambliss and Issakson, both voted against her confirmation.

This, in addition to the appointment of anti-gun Eric Holder to the post of Attorney General, has completely cemented (as if there were any doubt) the anti-personal gun ownership position of the Obama administration.
I will point out that the Republicans that opposed her confirmation, while correct in doing so, are about two decades too late in doing so for all intents and purposes, considering she was originally placed on a Federal bench by the elder George Bush. Of course South Carolina Senator and professional worm Lindsey Graham voted for her confirmation, and Jeff Sessions of Alabama voted against her. Session's opposition on Constitutional grounds is difficult to take serious given this is the same man who a few years ago quipped "Some people in this chamber love the Constitution more than they love the safety of this nation. We should all send President bush a letter thanking him for protecting us."

In Georgia News, the ongoing troubles concerning the Chatahoochee River watershed and the usage of rivers and reservoirs in the northern and western parts of the State to meet Georgia's drinking water needs have surfaced again as Governor Perdue spoke yesterday. In meeting the water needs of the Metro-
Atlanta Counties, in response to a federal court ruling that could potentially diminish Georgia's access to the watershed to the advantage of Alabama and Florida, Perdue plans to focus on an 1859 Supreme Court ruling that sets Georgia's western boundary in the Chatahoochee River at the edge of the west bank of the river, which would effectively compel Alabama to ask Georgia's permission to use any of the water.Governor Vows To Play Hardball (AJC)...

CASH FOR CLUNKERS RECEIVES MORE FUNDING
Another blatantly unconstitutional stimulus program that uses directly subsidizes a failing industry by way of our tax dollars or through the hidden tax of inflation has received an extension of funding. The program has been popular in Georgia, but frankly, if you're taking advantage of this program, you are part of the problem.
